Northern Virginia Resident Agency
This major construction project consisted of the development of a 242,750-sf office building, a 191,980-sf parking lot, a vehicle and maintenance facility and a full fitness center with locker rooms. The main office building was designed with two five-level office wings joined by a central service core and bound by satellite service cores; further, an innovative “flak jacket” approach was employed on the exterior façade to provide blast, ballistics and forced-entry resistance. This fenced facility meets USG high-security and data-sensitivity requirements, and the building design incorporates sustainable construction elements to meet USGBC’s criteria for LEED Silver rating.
