Miami West Mobile Switch Center Switch B Build-out
To continue to meet customer needs, this wireless communications provider engaged HITT to build-out one of the switches in their existing mobile switch center facility. This 10,000-sf heavy electrical and mechanical build-out involved adding new computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units and auxiliary iron supports for ladder racks and fiber trough. Additionally, the team performed modifications for the FM-200 fire suppression system.
Our team performed a major AC power conversion and added a second 480V service to the switch. We also expanded the existing mechanical yard for new condenser units. In constructing this, we took special care in constructing a brick façade and a galvanized steel grating roof to keep storm debris and wildlife from the mechanical corral area.
Additional equipment installed includes a 2,500-kW generator, a 10,000-gallon fuel tank, two 500-kW uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) with battery backup, and powder distribution unit (PDU) / remote power panel (RPP) distribution. All work took place in a live, mission critical environment with zero disruption to the client.
