Inova Fairfax Hospital Hybrid CVOR #4
Inova Fairfax Hospital, Inova's flagship hospital, is an 833-bed, nationally recognized regional medical center serving the Washington, DC metro area. The Inova Fairfax Hospital Hybrid CVOR #4 project was a multiphased, 25-week project renovating an existing fluoroscopy, CVOR 4, into a cardiovascular operating room (Cath Lab and EP Lab) to create a “hybrid” CVOR. This required all drywall, doors, frames and glass to be lead lined. The existing CVOR Room 6 was previously a storage room, and was renovated into a CVOR. Construction occurred while the adjacent operating rooms remained operational, and sterile corridors remained functional during the construction.
This project required constant coordination with the owner-furnished equipment companies, architect, MEP engineer and Inova Heart Institute doctors and nurses. This was the first time this type of operating table (MAQUET's "Magnus" surgical table) was integrated with the hybrid CVOR equipment (including Phillips Healthcare's cardiovascular x-ray systems) in the United States, which required FDA approval.
