Children's National Hospital Washington Nationals Diabetes Care Complex

Washington, DC
Overview

The Children's National Hospital Washington Nationals Diabetes Care Complex is an 8,500-sf, world-class pediatric complex that serves as the home for the Children’s Childhood and Adolescent Diabetes Program, caring for pediatric diabetes patients as well as children with cystic fibrosis-related diabetes and autoimmune-related illnesses, such as celiac and thyroid disease. This complex allows Children’s National to provide quality diabetes care with the help of its state-of-the-art outpatient treatment rooms and an education center, where families can participate in simulation labs to learn about proper nutrition and physical exercise, which are instrumental in diabetes management. The facility also has its own commercial kitchen to teach children good eating habits and includes a baseball-themed exercise facility. The complex was made possible through a partnership with the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation.
