Overview

Russell Hitt is the Chairman of HITT and the son of the company cofounders, Myrtle and Warren Hitt, who founded the business in 1937 as a small residential and commercial renovation company. Russell’s career in construction spans most of his life, starting when he worked for his parents during school breaks and summers. He later joined his family’s business full time as an estimator and project manager on various projects.  In 1978, he was promoted to oversee HITT. Today, Russell’s son and son-in-law, Brett Hitt and Jim Millar, serve as co-presidents of the company and share in ownership responsibilities. Together, father and sons have led the company’s growth into a recognized national, multi-million-dollar contractor with ten offices and projects in more than 40 states, as well as overseas. They continue to uphold the same values and dedication of Myrtle and Warren Hitt since the company’s inception in 1937.

A native of Arlington, Virginia, Russell attended Washington and Lee High School followed by Fishbourne Military School, where he has been actively involved since graduation. He then proceeded to college at Georgia Tech.

Over the years, Russell has been an active member of the community and a supporter of both local and national organizations. He assists in the Building Construction Program at Georgia Tech and has held board positions for the Northern Virginia Builders Association, Arlington Chamber of Commerce, Washington Golf and Country Club, and Arlington YMCA. Russell has also contributed his time to the Salvation Army, the Central United Methodist Church, and the Boy Scouts of America.
