Washington, DC
Overview

The renovation of Foley & Lardner LLP's 201,000-sf Washington, DC office consisted of a large conference center, full café and two social areas, all of which overlooked the beautiful Potomac River. The conference center, located on the sixth floor, featured Wenge veneer wood flooring, reconstituted wall and ceiling Wenge veneer paneling, sea foam stone paneling in the elevator lobby, Decoustics ceilings, two stainless steel picket railings at the ramps, custom colored back-painted glass and poured terrazzo flooring consisting of 100 percent white glass chips and 1,200 grit polished finish. The geometry of the building posed extraordinary layout and dimension challenges due to the “dying radius” in the south wing of each floor; this was especially challenging for the layout of the custom Decoustics ceiling on the conference center level. Within the fully equipped café area, the design required a centrally located opening that looks down to the fourth floor and is surrounded by a custom glass guardrail. During all phases of construction the building remained fully occupied, which required the most minimal sound emmitance and the highest degree of jobsite cleanliness.
